“My mom married down and I am angry with her” - Lady rants in viral video

A Nigerian woman has shared a video expressing deep disappointment over her mother's decision to marry her father, claiming the choice negatively impacted her own life opportunities.   In the widely circulated video, the young lady revealed that she has repeatedly confronted her mother about why she chose to marry a man who was beneath her family's socio-economic standard.   According to her account, her mother comes from a highly privileged, financially stable background, with several of her maternal uncles residing abroad. She contrasted her mother’s affluent upbringing with her father’s background, questioning why her mother chose to settle for someone she believes was never on her level.   ‘’My mum married down and it's affecting me. I have been so angry I even changed my surname. It annoys me. I am angry. I have told her that I am very disappointed in her. She left better men to get pregnant for and ended up with Victor?'she said    The lady argued that her mother's past choice has limited her own personal growth and potential, suggesting that her own strong work ethic would have taken her much further in life had she been raised in a more affluent environment or a first-world country. She further questioned why her mother would expect her to replicate the same path when she believes it leads to avoidable financial struggles.   The clip has triggered several reactions online.
